Welcome TO MARLWOOD School

A warm welcome to those seeking information about our school from our website.

I am extremely proud of our school and of our hard working and highly motivated staff and pupils. I feel incredibly privileged to be appointed as Head of School to lead the school with effect from September 2024.

I am passionate in ensuring that all our students are empowered and inspired by their educational experience providing them with the best possible toolkit for their life after Marlwood.

In November last year, we received our routine OFSTED inspection and were graded as ‘Good’, validating the hard work of our staff and students.

Marlwood School is a smaller than average secondary school with a vibrant and diverse cohort. We work hard to cultivate a ‘family feel’ and sense of belonging for our students. We acknowledge that we are a school of diversity and celebrate each child for their individualities in preparing them for their chosen pathway.

Our curriculum is broad, challenging and provides opportunities for all students to be successful, building on their prior learning from Primary School. Intertwined with our excellent Careers advice and strong links with employers and post 16 provides means that we are to prepare our students fully for their next steps.

Alongside our supportive, yet challenging curriculum, we offer many extra-curricular and wider opportunities to support students’ development and experiences beyond the academic. We unashamedly expect the highest of standards from all members of our community regardless of their background or starting point. We expect all our students will achieve the highest academic standards and hold our students to account through our ‘Disruption Free Learning’ environment.

By working together and modelling our school values through our daily interactions both inside and outside the classroom, we aim to develop young people who are respectful of themselves, one-another and the school environment, have sufficient self-belief to aspire to personal ambitions and be determined to work hard in the face of adversity and set back in-order to achieve their goals.

Although we run fantastic Open Events and Primary Transition programmes, we also believe in having an open door policy all year round. Therefore, if you would like to see our vision and values in action, please do make an appointment to tour the school by contacting

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to Marlwood School.
