VISION:
At MARLWOOD, the Geography curriculum aims to stimulate in our pupils a deep knowledge and understanding of the human and physical world; how these interact and above all the necessity of achieving a sustainable future
The Geography Curriculum at Marlwood
KS3 Year 7 -9
- To develop Geographical knowledge and concepts that enable pupils to have a clear understanding about the world they live in.
- To develop understanding of the role of geography in understanding the key issue of climate change and sustainable development.
- To give pupils a range of geographical skills and abilities to deepen their understanding of geographical themes
- To prepare students for the challenges of GCSE Geography.
Knowledge organisers
These are used in each topic to provide pupils with some key knowledge and ideas, vocabulary and a reference for the Unit of work. These are available in exercise books and on google classroom.

How to support your child
- Discuss any world issues that are currently happening - where are they?
- Have an atlas in the home; or use google earth to explore the world

Career progression
Many careers have direct geographical relevance : planner, estate management, surveyor, meteorologist, travel/tourism teacher, water management, conservation and environmental management. Geography also adds to the skills needed in the workplace such as data interpretation; statistical skills, analysing text and data, sequencing and problem solving.
