About our Sixth Form centre
Our Sixth Form provision is provided in partnership with the Castle School, Thornbury. The Sixth Form is a thriving and successful centre for Post-16 education with a well-deserved reputation for significant and sustained academic and vocational success in a caring, supportive environment.
The Sixth Form is based on a separate dedicated Sixth Form site at the Castle School. This helps mark the clear transition from GCSE study into more challenging, independent learning. By bringing together the strengths and experience of two schools, we are able to offer an exceptionally wide choice of subjects, ensuring that every student can follow a course which challenges and motivates them. It also enables us to make use of specialist facilities for all subjects.
In addition to their academic studies, our students follow an enrichment curriculum which prepares them well for all aspects of life beyond the Sixth Form. Topics covered include study skills and employability, health and well-being and a wide range of contemporary issues.
We also offer a diverse selection of extra-curricular activities. Students are well prepared for their university applications and many students each year gain admission to competitive courses and prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities. Our Sixth Form attracts students from other schools and even from overseas. We are a fully inclusive school, and welcome those who demonstrate a genuine interest in their subject and a willingness to take full advantage of the opportunities on offer.
