Marlwood School launched the ‘Brainbox’ scheme in 2005,a set of activities relating to how the brain works . All pupils coming to the school have the opportunity of completing a Brainbox. The pupils undertake work in English, Maths and Science. They also are encouraged to create a 3-D mask using the resources within the Brainbox which reflects their interests and personality. The masks are used as a tool to generate an introduction to staff and fellow pupils. Each year we display the masks in the Learning Resource Centre and other prominent areas.
The scheme has been recognised by Ofsted as an excellent tool for the transition period.
Recent additions to the Brainbox have included a Music activity generated by Almondsbury Primary School. Further developments are planned to keep the activities fresh and exciting.
